WHITE/SPARKLING WINE OF THE MONTH – MARCH 2010

Wine & Beverage Center, has chosen the Italian Torricella Chardonnay 2008 as the white wine of the month from Toscana region.

This dry aromatic wine with hints of butter, orange, pinapple and vanilla is produced by Barone Ricasoli. The seat of the estate is the fortess constructed in the middle aged called Castello di Brolio.  Since 1960 the estate has beeing passing through different owners.

However, in 1993 the estate started to be purchased back by Francesco Ricasoli.  Francesco was by that time working as a photographer in Florence . The reason why he wanted to purchase was that he wanted to attempt to salvage the reputation of his family. Francesco Ricasoli took help from different oenologists and even restored, moderniesed and restocked with new barrels.
 
The estate produces mainly Chianti Classico wines.
