Gonzalez Bypass received the prestigious International Wine & Spirits award 'Winemaker of the Year 2010'
At the IWSC’s 41st award ceremony held at London’s historic Guildhall last night, Mauricio Gonzalez received the awards of The Beyerskloof Trophy for Winemaker of the Year and Spanish Wine Producer of the Year on behalf of Gonzalez Byass and said, “This is a huge honour for us and for the Spanish wine industry. It is great to get recognition on the international stage in our 175th year for our wines.”
Competition director, Frances Horder, comments on the win: “Sherry always performs well in the competition, impressing the trade with its complex, balanced flavours. Gonzalez Byass has also impressed judges with its growing range of still wines in recent years, winning the IWSC Spanish producer on several occasions. We are delighted to award the company the title of Winemaker of the Year, recognising its strong performance throughout this year’s competition.”
The IWSC is judged by a panel selected from 300 fully qualified, experienced industry judges. Noted for its vigorous and unrivalled judging process, the IWSC is proud to be the only competition of its kind that conducts a full blind tasting with extensive chemical analysis.
